After many years of being practically ignored for the home market, Upstairs, Downstairs fans are lucky that the availability of the series is now very good, with the episodes available on DVD in various releases across the world. 6 The German releases only include the episodes which were part of the
original showing in the Seventies and were dubbed into German. The episodes are
also all cut by about 5 minutes each.
7 Episodes are released in season-by-season sets. In addition there is
the so-called "collector's edition megaset"
which also includes Thomas & Sarah on 4 extra disks. However, this
release is just a repackaging of the old season-by-season disks and does not
offer any improvement in picture quality.
8 Includes Part Three of The Story of Upstairs, Downstairs, and Sandy's
Last Stand. Also commentaries
on 6 episodes.
9 Includes Part Four of The Story of Upstairs, Downstairs, and
commentaries
on 4 episodes.
10 A boxed set of the 21 colour episodes from the first
two seasons is available, alongside the 2 (or 3) episode releases. Seasons 3
and later are only as boxed sets. Some of the Spanish episodes appear to
be slightly abbreviated.
