v3.0

Date: Judging by the weather, late autumn or winter or early spring 1911-12?

Goof: Many of the boys in this school seem to have 1970's haircuts!

Goof: The two types of uniforms (one for the younger boys, the other for the older boys) seem to have been assembled very hastily – the colours, styles and cuts of the pupils' coats, collars, trousers and waistcoats vary quite a lot.

John Welsh (Chater) is a familiar face to fans of TV period drama with major roles in The Forsyte Saga (1967, as James Forsyte, father to Soames), the John Hawkesworth-produced The Duchess Of Duke Street (1976-7, as doddering waiter Merriman) and in early episodes of To Serve Them All My Days (1980-1, as elderly teacher Mr Cordwainer). After over 200 television and film roles, he died in 1985.

Goof?: Pat Keen (Mrs Battersby) drops some of the cabbage on the kitchen floor. It looks accidental, but when she scoops it up and unsavourily puts it back in the bowl, this action suits the broken-down school theme very well! (5'29")

Goof: Pauline Collins mentions "Mr Groom-Combie" (Crombie) (7'20").

Goof: When the actors playing the boys recite the years of accession and death of the kings, they chant: "Edward the Third, 1327 to 1377," which is right, but then get muddled and chant: "Richard the Second, 1327 to 1399..." Richard II came to the throne in 1377, not 1327. (19'14")

The passages quoted at 23' and 40' etc. are from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Goof: The school governors overreact at the events happening on the stage before anything remotely controversial has been said (I think the reaction shot was cut in from later on). (43'10")
