v3.2

Date: It is the period April-May 1912 (the immediate aftermath to the sinking of the Titanic – headlines in newspapers etc. – up to the third reading of the Irish Home Rule Bill on May 25th).

Goof(ish): Lady Marjorie was extremely unlucky to have been killed in the Titanic disaster – only four of the 144 ladies travelling in first class perished.

Miss Roberts background: Her first name is Maude/Maud (7'06"). LWT paperwork seems to prefer the Maude version of the name.

Hazel background: Her parents are both still alive and she lives with them in Wimbledon. Her father is an accountant (cf. If You Were The Only Girl In The World). He's been with his firm for 40 years, since he was aged 17 (so he is about 57 years old). (12'23")

Arthur Brough (Mr Stallinbrass) is better known for playing the forever-sleepy Mr Grainger in the shop-based sitcom Are You Being Served? from 1972-7. He died in 1978.

Rose background: She first met Lady Marjorie when she was about five on the estate at Southwold. Rose's father was still alive at this point. (32'34")

Mr Hudson background: He first met Lady Marjorie as a new footman (a "raw young lad") at Southwold (32'54").

Goof: Gordon Jackson: "How did you come in... to get into the boat, Miss Roberts?" (38'46")

Goof: Rose has been neglecting the cleaning of those mirrors! (41'32")

Lady Marjorie background: Her brother Hugo also died on the Titanic (45'01"), and presumably his wife too (this is later confirmed in Goodwill to All Men). Marjorie had been married to Richard for over 25 years (42'54"), though combining information from Magic Casements and Will Ye No Come Back Again?, it would seem Lady Marjorie and Richard were married (and moved to London) sometime in the years 1881-1883 (the episodes do not agree exactly) so the figure is actually closer to 30. We learn that the amount of Lady M's marriage settlement was £100,000 (about £8,600,000 in modern terms) and that James and Elizabeth inherit this in equal parts (on her death) (18' – see also The Fruits of Love).

This is Miss Roberts' (Patsy Smart's) last episode.
